In this video I spoke with Jon Lester about the adoption of wireless technology in smart buildings. As many of you already know I am a big advocate of wireless. I believe it will fundamentally transform the way we think about buildings and also reduce their environmental footprint (think about the beauty of getting rid of cables).
Wireless and the Internet of Things
Wireless plays a big role in IoT as it enables a much wider range of use cases and greater flexibility from design to operations.
The Internet of Things (IoT) has brought a huge wave of connected wireless technologies and devices for use within the building industry. Building automation has not been left behind with the introduction of numerous wireless technologies. Due to the limitations of traditional cabled sensor installations, low-power and standard wireless technologies have been promoted as an effective alternative to reduce the need for labor-intensive cable work within buildings.
